2021 China wine fairs to have on your radar

While we’re not out of the woods yet with regards to the coronavirus pandemic, a host of wine fairs are due to take place in China this year, which are hoping to reunite and re-ignite the industry.

The 104th China Food & Drinks Fair
7-9 April 2021
Western China International Expo City, Chengdu

As one of the wine fairs that was scheduled when coronavirus was rampant in China, The China Food & Drink Fair (CFDF), widely known as the Chengdu wine fair, was delayed till July 2020 and held virtually at last. This year, the fair will resume its physical event at Western China International Expo City in Chengdu.

However, it is expected that the fair will show a strong digital integration as in 2020 the organiser teamed up with Alibaba to introduce an innovative exhibition platform d on AI and cloud technology, featuring online display, supply-purchase matching, marketing live streaming and business negotiation.

This year, the trade show will expand to 21,000 square meters and bring on engaging seminars, workshops and forums to connect the industry professionals.
 

TopWine China
19-21 June 2021

TopWine China is one of the biggest B2B trade fairs for wine and spirits in northern China, providing a platform for global brands to understand the Chinese market. The 2019 edition was reported to have attracted 10,885 visitors, especially Beijing, the North China region, the Northeast China Region and the East China Region.
 

The 7th Shanghai International Food & Drinks Fair
20-21 May 2021
NECC, Hongqiao, Shanghai

Following the last edition which closed the curtain on 22 October 2020, Shanghai International Food & Drinks Fair (SFDF) is aiming to once again curate a top trade event for the international alcohol drink and food industry in the Asia-Pacific region. Last year, the fair attracted 958 exhibitors and 56,168 visitors. This year, the fair strives to provide an opportunity for brands, distributors and agents to meet and mingle.

The 26th Interwine China
3-5 June 2021
Area B, China Import & Export Fair Complex, Guangzhou

As the largest wine trade event in the South of China, Interwine China is bringing forwrad its 15 years of experience to put on a show with the biggest Chinese wine importers network in Mainland China, as the organiser claimed. In 2019, the three-day show, with an exhibition area of 50,000 square metres, attracted the participation of more than 1,175 exhibitors and over 50,000 professional visitors and group buyers; also there were more than 100 on-site activities, master classes, wine tasting, business match, wine business forums, conferences hosted by worldwide experts.

 

The 2nd Wine To Asia Shenzhen International Wine and Spirits Fair
8-10 June 2021
Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center

The inaugural edition of the trade show was concluded in November 2020, with 200 producers and importers and more than 3,000 trade visitors, including buyers, associations and media from across China, joining the two-day show. The event is hosted by Veronafiere and Shenzhen Pacco Communication, the co-organiser of The China Food & Drinks Fair (CFDF). The organisers hoped to create a platform for global exhibitors and professional visitors to meet and do business, with a goal to represent the current market and new trends.
 

Restaurant & Bar Hong Kong

With over 18 years’ of experience, Restaurant & Bar Hong Kong (RBHK) is one of the most established food & hospitality exhibitions in the region, serving culinary experts, beverage masters and restaurant owners. Last year, it was the only physical B2B tradeshow held in Hong Kong and it presented 270 exhibitors and brands with 6,600 trade buyers. As usual, Gourmet Asia, an exhibition with a focus on fine dining, will take place concurrently.
 

The 4th China International Import Expo
4-10 November, 2021
National Exhibition and Convention Center, Shanghai

Being the world’s first national-level expo developed on the theme of export, the China International Import Expo (CIIE) was proposed and put forward by President Xi Jinping. Last year, the show spanned 360,000 square meters, exhibitors launched 411 new products, technologies and services, attracting nearly 400,000 visitors.

ProWine in Shanghai

As the only international wines and spirits trade fair held since the outbreak of COVID-19, the 2020 edition of ProWine China welcomed a total of 400 wine producers and distributors from 17 countries and regions contributed to a global showing of wines and spirits. Boutique wineries and premium wine producers from all over the world were present at ProWine China 2020 to get in contact with local producers, importers, distributors and key buyers.

 

Under strict anti-epidemic measures of the organizers, 22,542 trade visitors attended the 3-day event, an increase of 9.2% compared to the previous edition. In addition to local visitors, many also came from Beijing, Guangdong, Sichuan, Hainan, Shandong, Liaoning, Inner Mongolia and Macau.
 

The 13th Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair
11-13 November 2021
Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre

Organized by the HKTDC, the 2020 edition of Wine & Spirits Fair was supposed to reformat as a special public edition taking place in Janurary 2021 in conjunction with six other concurrent public fairs; however, due to the uncertain circumstances of COVID-19, the organiser decided to delay the show till November.

In 2019, the three-day run featured 1,075 exhibitors from 30 countries and regions, showcasing remarkable wines from around the world. Over 15,000 buyers from 70 countries and regions visited the fair.
