The 2021 National People’s Congress and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference will be held soon. Jiang Ming, a representative of the National People's Congress and chairman of Tianming Group, submitted a proposal of "Reducing the Excessive Taxation of China's Wine Industry and Improving Market Competitiveness."
Jiang Ming said that due to multiple factors such as the impact of imported wine and the low recognition of consumers, domestic wine production and sales have been declining year after year since 2015, and some companies have lost money and closed down. This has also caused the continuous shrinkage of wine grape planting area and the growers suffering losses. It is necessary to take measures to support the development of local wine industry.
Jiang Ming suggested that one is to increase investment in scientific research, optimize varieties and cultivation techniques, and select and plant grapes varieties suitable for planting conditions in the country's main producing areas.
The second is to reduce the tax burden, cancel the wine consumption tax, reduce the tax rate from 13% to 9%, and support the domestic wine industry chain to resist the impact of imported products.
