In recent years, the Chinese wine market has continued to be sluggish. Statistics show that since 2018, China's wine consumption has declined year after year. In 2020, China has retreated to the sixth largest wine consumption market in the world. In addition, imported wine continues to occupy the domestic market share, coupled with the impact of the epidemic, domestic wine producers are facing serious challenges.
1. Domestic consumption continues to decline
In recent years, the Chinese wine market has continued to be sluggish. Data show that since 2018, China's wine consumption has declined year after year. In 2020, it dropped to 1.24 billion liters, a year-on-year decrease of 17.3%, the largest drop since 2016. The main reason is the impact of the new coronary pneumonia epidemic and the domestic consumption depression.
In the global wine consumption market, China is one of the main markets. Although global wine consumption is also declining, the "depression" in the Chinese market is particularly obvious. According to statistics released by OIV, China's wine consumption ranked fifth in the world from 2016 to 2019, and fell to sixth in 2020.
