The press conference of the Ningxia National Grape and Wine Industry Open-up & Development Comprehensive Pilot Zone was held in Beijing.
In May of 2021, the State Council approved the "Overall Plan for the Construction of a Comprehensive Pilot Zone for Open-up & Development of Ningxia National Grape and Wine Industry." This is the China's first comprehensive pilot zone for the development of characteristic industries, and it is also the country's second and the first national-level agricultural pilot zone in west approved by the State Council. It aims to fully tap the advantages of the "golden belt" of wine production at the eastern foot of Helan Mountain, and strive to create a leading grape and wine industry in Ningxia and even China.
The comprehensive pilot area has a planned area of 502.2 square kilometers, covering 6 counties in Yinchuan and Wuzhong, of which the core area is 108 square kilometers.
It is reported that the pilot zone will take about five years to build into a modern grape and wine base, with a comprehensive output value of 100 billion yuan, so that the products will be exported to countries and regions that jointly build the "Belt and Road".
