In 2022, in spite of the overall decline of the national wine industry, the development of the wine industry in Ningxia bucked the trend. The annual increase of wine grape planting area was 57,600 mu, and the upgrading of low-quality vineyards was 40,000 mu. The total planting area of Ningxia reached 583,000 mu, accounting for about 35% of the national total. It produced 138 million bottles of wine, accounting for nearly 40 percent of the total wine produced by domestic wineries, and the growth rate of wine exports remained stable at around 30 percent.

In 2022, Ningxia takes building itself into the "World Wine Capital" as its goal. The brand value of "Wine at the eastern foot of Helan Mountain" is 30.107 billion yuan (7% more than the previous year), ranking 9th on the list of regional brands of national geographical indication products.

According to a principle of the Management Committee of Wine Industry Zone at the eastern foot of Helan Mountain in Ningxia, Ningxia will continue to implement the overall plan requirements for the construction of Ningxia National grape and wine industry opening and development comprehensive pilot Zone, coordinate and mobilize all kinds of resources, and strive to build the "comprehensive pilot zone" into a new model leading Ningxia and even China's wine industry opening and integrated development. To provide an example and contribute to the deep opening up of characteristic industries in the western region and the promotion of rural revitalization.
