The "2023 Research Report on the Development of China's Whiskey Industry" released at the conference shows that there are currently 42 distillers with legal personality in whiskey production and operation activities in China (including 2 in Taiwan, China). In 2023, the total production of whisky products was about 500,000 hectolitres, an increase of 127%, of which malt whisky accounted for 65%, an increase of 35%. In terms of economic benefits, the sales revenue of whisky unit products is 100-2500 yuan/liter. From the perspective of market consumption, the market size of China's whiskey in 2023 is about 5.5 billion yuan, an increase of 10% over the previous year. In terms of imports and exports, China's whiskey imports in 2023 were 3.26 million liters, down 0.57% year-on-year; The value of imports was 4.126 billion yuan, up 9.65%.

For the current development of the domestic whiskey industry, He Yong, secretary-general of the China Wine Industry Association and chairman of the Whiskey Professional Committee, stressed that the development of the whiskey industry should pay attention to the enabling of the producing area, make use of the unique natural conditions of the producing area such as water source and climate, geographical advantages, consumption trends and cluster effects, build a brand culture, and do a good job in the producing area. At the same time, we should pay attention to the cultivation of talents, build a talent cultivation system, and help the quality expression of whiskey.
