Organized by China Wine News, the competition aims to define the value of global spirits and wines in China, and recommend the world's best spirits and wines that meet Chinese palates.
China is the world's largest consumer of alcoholic drinks, it represents not only a massive consumer market, but also the home of the world's seven largest distilled spirit – Baijiu.
At present, there are numerous international and domestic wine and spirits competitions, it’s hard for distributors and consumers to distinguish them, causing frustrations in the market.
As the only alcoholic drinks newspaper approved by China's General Administration of Press and Publication, China Wine News carries the mission of "influencing the industry and creating values". In order to get to the bottom of it, China Wine News launched the CWN International Spirits and Wine Award together with industry experts and opinion leaders.
A “Different” Competition
1. Different judge panels
The competition’s judge panels will be consisted of 30% domestic and foreign experts, 20% distributors, 20% professional consumers, 15% opinion leaders and 15% professional media. This shows an increase in the proportion of distributors, consumers and opinion leaders who are acknowledged about drinks and can better represent "public opinion".
2. Different sample requirements
Submitted samples must come from the production line in a full box batch with complete packaging, complete trademark, bar codes, and are commercially available. In other words, it is a must to submit products of "authentic materials" so as to "compete" and reflect their true values.
3. Different judging process
Summited samples are categorized by market price and alcohol content instead of aroma style. Blind tasting is adopted, meaning to hide the information of brands, varieties and regions, etc. Samples will be judged by color, smell and flavor, and scored by 100 points system. Categorizing by price instead of style is a better way to select valuable products.
4. Different Award Settings
There are three awards, AAA Recommendation Award (93 points and above), AA Recommendation Award (88-92 points) and A Recommendation Award (85-88 points), which means recommending selected global drinks that meet Chinese palates to Chinese consumers, and for each price range, the best value is selected.
5. Different Award ceremonies
We will hold a grand award ceremony and post the results in mainstream media and industry media at home and abroad, recommending the award-winning products to consumers and distributors, so that they can choose according to their own demands.
